Head of Crime & Director of Legal Aid & Compliance

Phil is responsible for our crime department. He was over 10 years of experience in dealing with a wide range of criminal matters. Phil is also a higher court advocate for criminal courts. Phil experience in dealing with typical criminal cases but also complex matters.

Phil is our firm’s Contract Manager for Legal Aid. He works closely with the Legal Aid Agency to ensure that we are meeting the requirement of delivering this government contract.

He is also our firm’s compliance officer. Phil Axon is an experienced compliance officer with a proven track record of success in the legal industry. He has an in-depth knowledge of the UK legal and regulatory framework, combined with his strong analytical and problem-solving skills, make him a valuable asset to any law firm. Talat Jabin

Head of Immigration & Training Principal

Talat Jabin has over 20 years experience in immigration and asylum cases. Currently she is the firm’s head of department and also an accredited legal aid supervisor. She is also responsible for training other team members at the Firm. In that role she oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of training programs for staff across the firm. With over 20 years of experience in the legal industry, Talat brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role.

Talat is also highly experienced Business Immigration Solicitor with over 10 years of experience. She has a wealth of knowledge and expertise in advising both corporate and individual clients on all aspects of UK business immigration law. Talat has a proven track record of successfully handling complex immigration cases and has a deep understanding of the various challenges faced by businesses when it comes to recruiting and retaining overseas talent.

Stephen Melzack

Solicitor & Head of Property

Stephen Melzack qualified as a solicitor in 1976 having joined Parker Thomas as an articled clerk and subsequently became and was a partner until the acquisition by Parker Thomas. He now joins us with leading our property department.

He is a general commercial lawyer with an emphasis on commercial conveyancing (including all aspects of Landlord & Tenant) and company law but also has expertise in employment, residential conveyancing, wills and litigation generally. He covers most areas of law.

His client base is varied ranging from large and small companies, sole traders, property dealers, fashion retailers, manufacturers and various business interests. He also has a large private client base and has acted for two or three generations of families.

His forté is to be able to give clients well rounded advice in a variety of situations.

Leah Nelson

Solicitor & Head of Housing

Leah joined the firm as a paralegal and under took the trainee solicitor’s course with us. She is now a Solicitor who has a keen interest in working in Landlord and Tenant and commercial property. She has over 5 years experience in dealing with cases for tenants and landlords in connection with eviction cases, housing possession cases, injunction and civil litigation matter. Leah also undertakes commercial leases matters. She is also one of our Housing Legal Aid Supervisors and Head of our Housing Department.

In addition, Leah undertakes work in Family Law. She has successfully represented numerous clients and secured favourable settlements and court orders. Leah has skills in mediation, resolving disputes amicably when possible and guiding clients through this emotional process.

Franklin Leighter

Solicitor & Head of Wills & Probate

Franklin Leighter trained at Trower, Still & Keeling in Lincoln’s Inn Fields and qualified as a solicitor in 1976. Shortly thereafter he joined Clintons and was made a partner.

In 1986 he joined Stephen Melzack at Parker Thomas where they became partners until the acquisition by Parker Thomas.

Throughout his career Franklin has dealt with a varied portfolio of commercial transactions including property matters, both commercial and residential, and private client matters including Wills and Probate.

He tries to apply a practical approach to solve complex problems.

Adnan specialises in advising borrower and lender clients on bilateral and syndicated real estate finance. Adnan’s practice covers all facets of real estate finance, from commercial investment and development to housing finance, acting for public and private sector clients.

Adnan has experience working across a range of sectors, including logistics, student accommodation, healthcare, and mixed-use developments. He acts for borrowers investing through REITs, onshore and offshore groups, and limited partnerships; and for both senior and mezzanine lenders providing conventional and Islamic finance.

Recent experience includes advising a REIT on the refinancing of its loan facilities to facilitate the corporate acquisition of a portfolio of properties to add to its £125 million logistics portfolio; advising the partners of a joint venture on their debt funding and intra-group loan arrangements to finance the development of a new £40 million student accommodation development; and facilitating the Shari’a-compliant group funding arrangements for overseas investors purchasing UK property through a Jersey SPV with conventional debt from a global asset manager.
